My Journey PLLC Clinical Mentorship Program (CMP)
Program Overview
The My Journey PLLC Clinical Mentorship Program (CMP) offers a specialized, supplemental professional development opportunity designed for high-achieving graduate practicum students and graduate interns in the mental health field. This program goes beyond mandated clinical supervision to foster deep professional identity formation, ethical resilience, and long-term career planning.
We believe that true mastery requires guidance, reflection, and connection with experienced professionals. The CMP is specifically structured to provide this supportive framework, complementing the intensive clinical work undertaken during your placement.
This program is free to participate in. There are no underlying fees. Any learning material provided is part of the program.
Program Structure
Capacity: We accept a highly selective cohort of two (2) Mentorship Fellows per semester (1 semester per student) to ensure individualized attention and high-quality interaction.
Focus: Mentorship sessions will be dedicated to clinical and non-clinical topics such as:
Navigating ethical gray areas and value conflicts.
Developing a sustainable, self-care informed professional philosophy.
Exploring diverse career trajectories (e.g., policy, advocacy, private practice).
Building professional networks and resources.
Promoting well-being, developing coping skills.
Focusing on psychoeducation (teaching about mental health concepts).
Education with understanding cases.
Duration: The mentorship relationship aligns with the academic semester (approximately 18 weeks). Weekly 60 minute meetings (virtual).
No fee: If selected to be in the CMP, there is no fee. This is geared towards your growth while in school and to help advance you moving forward.
Mandatory Prerequisite: Site Supervision
For all accepted students, this Mentorship Program is supplemental and does not replace required clinical supervision.
Students engaging in clinical work on site must have an assigned, qualified Clinical Site Supervisor who is responsible for oversight, case consultation, documentation co-signing, and liability management in accordance with university and licensing board regulations.
Application Requirements (Letter of Intent)
Candidates are selected based on their demonstrated capacity for deep self-reflection, motivation, and clarity of purpose. To apply, please submit a detailed Letter of Intent that addresses the following five (5) areas:
Reason for Entering the Program: Describe why the mentorship component, specifically, is important for your current stage of professional development.
Life Goals: Briefly outline your overarching personal and professional goals for yourself in the next 5-10 years.
Mental Health Field Goals: Articulate your vision for your contribution to the mental health field and the specific client populations or issues you hope to address.
Effective Communication: Identify and explain the ways of communication (e.g., verbal processing, written reflection, check-ins) that are most effective for you in a learning or relationship context.
Self-Motivating Philosophy: Describe your core personal philosophy or belief system that consistently serves to self-motivate you through challenges and high-stress situations.
